Today US President Donald Trump unveiled the logo for the U.S. Space Force – and was ridiculed on Twitter straightway. Does the design template come from «Star Trek»? Of course it does. Nevertheless, I find it a successful logo.

After consultation with our Great Military Leaders, designers, and others, I am pleased to present the new logo for the United States Space Force, the Sixth Branch of our Magnificent Military!

At first glance it looks like a logo redesign from the «Starfleet Commando» logo. But I like the figurative mark of the «United States Space Force» and the colours much better. Especially the fine comet and the reduced stars do not make the logo so bulky. What I find better about the older «Starfleet» logo is typography: the Eurostile font is still a classic and is an excellent match for science fiction and space travel. In contrast to the «Space Force» logo: Serifs in capital letters are simply not so easy to read. Overall, I like both…
